Vishpala leads Human Resources for American Express in India which is the second largest market by headcount for Amex globally. As a member of the American Express India Leadership Team (ILT), she ensures that Human Capital is a key driver in enabling business success. She has been with Amex for a decade and has partnered with business leaders to drive the India Business transformation which was featured as a best practice by the Asia HR Executive Board.
She along with her team continues to make American Express a great place to work (Featured in GPTW’s Top 10 workplaces India list for 9 consecutive years). This includes leading innovative programs on preventive healthcare (Healthy Living), first of its kind D&I initiative in collaboration with four large multinationals (Reach Out), and unique platform to drive employee awareness on cross-LOB career opportunities (Career Week).
Vishpala has recently led the global HR transformation journey for India, bringing to life the new HR model of business partnerships. The market HR team, under her leadership, focuses on enterprise-wide programs that positively impact employee engagement and support business growth.
In her previous roles, Vishpala has led the Health & Benefits Centre of Expertise within the Compensation & Benefits (C&B) function for AmEx, supporting the Japan Asia Pacific & Australia region as well as having oversight for C&B in India. Prior to joining American Express, Vishpala was a consultant with the Talent and Organization Consulting practice of Hewitt Associates. She worked extensively in the Performance & Rewards area across the IT and ITES industry. She has also worked with Cognizant Technology Solutions as an HR generalist.
Vishpala serves as a member on the national executive board of NHRDN (National HR Development Network) and leads their Young Minds Advisory Board aimed at increasing relevance and awareness of NHRDN for young HR professionals in the country.
Vishpala holds a B.S.C in Mathematics and Statistics, and M.B.A in Human Resources. She is based out of Gurgaon and lives with her husband and two children. In her leisure, she enjoys watching movies and travelling. A sportsperson, Vishpala has represented Andhra Pradesh/University as a national level shuttle badminton player.
